The Swedish Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that their current ambassador to Cambodia, Anna Maj Hultgard, will be moving on in September.
Hultgard is to be succeeded by Maria Sargen, who will be leaving behind a posting as the country’s minister counsellor for development policy, humanitarian aid, democracy and human rights at the EU.
Previous postings for Sargen have included the Swedish Embassy in Harare, Zimbabwe, as well as multiple delegations to the United Nations.
During her time as ambassador, Hultgard has made a special cause of gender equality in line with her government’s stated feminist foreign policy.
Swedish Embassy staff did not respond to requests for comment yesterday.
