Lieutenant General Hun Manet, RCAF army commander, on Wednesday led a delegation for a four-day visit to Vietnam to boost ties between the armies of both countries.
According to RCAF, Lt Gen Manet and his delegation will be in Vietnam until Saturday where he will meet with several senior military officers.
He was scheduled to hold talks with Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Vietnam’s Deputy Defence Minister and Chief of General Staff of the People’s Army, Major General Hoang Xuan Chien, Vietnam’s Border Protection commander and the directors of several Vietnamese army training schools.

Lt Gen Manet said in a Facebook post on Wednesday that he and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Lt Gen Van Giang in Hanoi.
“Lt Gen Van Giang said that Vietnam and Cambodia are neighbouring countries which had fought for their respective independence,” he said. “He also said that Vietnamese army officers continue to enjoy strong relations with our RCAF officers and that they will continue to support us in improving our capacity.”
Lt Gen Manet also expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese government and its army for helping Cambodia.
“I thank the Vietnamese government and its army for their continued support to our RCAF,” he said. “We hope that this visit will further strengthen both countries’ ties.”
On Wednesday, Lt Gen Manet also held discussions with Major General Nguyen Tan Cuong, deputy chief of general staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

He said that the meeting was aimed at strengthening solidarity, friendship, cooperation and development ties between both countries.
Lt Gen Manet noted that Maj Gen Tan Cuong congratulated him on his recent appointment as army commander.
“Maj Gen Tan Cuong said that he believes that under my leadership, ties between our armies will be further strengthened,” he said. “The ties between RCAF and the Vietnamese army are historical and moreover, both countries are neighbours.”
