Siem Reap police are looking for three suspects who robbed a fish shop at gunpoint on Monday night.
Por Rith, the victim, told police that the robbers had two rifles, which they fired in the air before demanding his valuables. Rith lost a bracelet, a gold necklace, 50,000 Thai baht ($1,400), $500 and 6 million riel (about $3,400 in total). The victim was not injured.
“The suspects threatened the victim to give them his jewellery and not shout or they would shoot him,” said Chan Sarorn, the Kralanh district police chief.
Rith told police that the suspects parked their car outside his house before going in to rob him. One of the suspects, who stayed with the car, wore a mask.
The victim did not recognise the other two, saying that they may be from another village.
Doung Sokha, the penal police chief in Siem Reap, said that his officers will identify the suspects soon but also admitted that this might be difficult because the victim could not remember their faces.
